The appeal of Blanes lies in its location, as it is the southernmost town on the Costa Brava, it has a marked historical character and a wide range of tourist options. Although it has been officially-recognised as a family tourism destination, it is an attractive, cosy coastal town, and one that is ideal for all types of holiday activities.
The sea is of course an important factor for this picturesque fishing town, which boasts 4 km of coastline, peppered with coves and long strands – making it ideal for sunbathing or summer sports. The beaches themselves include Sa Palomera, which is next to the port, while Treumal, although the smallest beach, is within an officially designated Area of Natural Interest, and the beach at Sant Francesc is hidden away amid pine trees. The area also boasts the Marimurtra Botanical Garden and the Pinya de Rosa Gardens; two treasures that are renowned the world over and which enjoy spectacular panoramic views over the Mediterranean.
The town’s culinary delights are sure to leave all visitors impressed, while local buildings, such as the town’s castle and walking routes through the area are ideal for walkers.
